Lal Bahadur Shastri (Death Anniversary-11th January)
(Know about a PM of India who did not have
his own House, bought a Car by Taking a Loan, Reasons of His Death)
Lal Bahadur Shastri:
Lal Bahadur Shastri, this son of India was born on 2 October 1904
in Mughal Sarai, Uttar Pradesh. He was fondly called 'Nanhe'
as the youngest in the house. He received his primary education at his maternal
grandfather's place in Mirzapur due to his father's death. In the
absence of money, he used to swim and cross the river and go to school.
After studying Sanskrit from Kashi Vidyapeeth, he was given the
title of 'Shastri'. Date 11 January 1966, on that day India lost
such a brave son who had shown the whole world how India fights against
its enemies. slender, a man of short stature, a colossal
personality, who had forced Pakistan to surrender in the 1965 war.
At an early age, he joined the Non-Cooperation Movement with Mahatma
Gandhiji.
Lal Bahadur Shastri is the name of the second Prime Minister
of India, who defeated Pakistani army by sneaking into his house. It
was during his tenure that the Indian army gave a befitting reply to the
war to Pakistan and waved its flag to Lahore. Apart from this, he
was also such a sincere person that later all the land won by India in the Indo-Pak
war was returned to Pakistan.
He gave the slogan of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’.
Simplicity & Honesty of Lal Bahadur Shastri:
Under the Servants of India Society, they were given financial assistance of Rs.
50/-. Once, he asked his wife how much the house cost. Then his wife said 40/- rupees
were sufficient for the household. After knowing this, he himself sought to
reduce financial aid.
Lal Bahadur Shastri never used a government car for personal use. Once his
son used it privately, he deposited the money in the government account in
kilometers. When he became the Prime Minister of the country, he had
neither his house nor any car. There was not even enough money in his account
to buy the car. Later, at the behest of the children, they bought a car by
taking a loan from the bank. He could not even fully repay the loan of this car
when he died in Tashkent. After this, the then Prime Minister Indira
Gandhi recommended him to forgive his loan, but his wife refused to do so.
His car loan was repaid without government help until
four years after the incident. This car is still kept in Lal Bahadur Shastri
Memorial, Delhi. After the settlement in Tashkent in 1966,
India returned Pakistan Haji Pir and Thithwal Territory. His move
was also criticized. His wife was also angry with the move.
Another incident of his is quite interesting. After
becoming Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastriji once went to buy a
saree for his wife. The shopkeeper showed him many expensive saris. Shastri
ji said politely that he cannot take such an expensive sari. On this, the
shopkeeper asked to gift the saree, on which Shastriji flatly refused.
His Works & Contributions:
When the country faced a severe famine, the people
of the country started fasting for a day at their behest. At his behest,
people gave generously during the war in Pakistan. His honesty is seen
in public life too. He resigned from the post of Railway Minister by
taking moral responsibility for the railway accident during his tenure.
The history of modern India has been an example of simplicity and
honesty he followed all his life.
After independence of India, he moved to Delhi and
worked in several departments of the Union Cabinet. He held several
ministerial posts including Railway Minister, Commerce and Industry
Minister, Home Minister. He breathed his last on 11 January 1966
in Tashkent.
Mystery of His Death:
The death of Lal Bahadur Shastri is still a mystery. He died at 1:32
pm on January 11, just 12 hours after the signing of the Tashkent
Agreement with Pakistan on January 10, 1966. He died a few
minutes after giving the injection. It is officially said that he died
of a heart attack.
Tashkent Agreement with Pakistan Snatched His Peace:
Lal Bahadur Shastri had to make a peace agreement with Pakistan
on January 10, 1966 in Tashkent under the pressure of Russia
& America, but this agreement had disturbed his peace of mind completely
as he was being criticized a lot.
Poison in His Food and Jaan Mohammad's Name:
Another claim that is made on the death of Lal Bahadur Shastri is
that poison had been mixed in his food because of which he had died. From
the reception, Shastri ji reached his resting place at around 10 pm.
He asked for food from his personal assistant Ramnath, which had been
prepared in the house of Indian Ambassador PN Kaul and that food was prepared by Jaan
Mohammad, the cook of PN Kaul. Whereas before this, only his personal
assistant Ramnath used to make arrangements for the food of Prime
Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Jaan
Mohammad got a job in Rashtrapati Bhavan and Shastri's Dr. Chugh's family died:
Dr. Chugh, who went with Lal Bahadur Shastri to Tashkent
and his entire family, had a truck accident in 1977, in which only one
of his daughters was left who became paralyzed and the whole family died.
On the other hand, Shastri ji's personal assistant Ramnath also
had a car accident in which his legs were amputated and later he lost
his memory.
No Post-Mortem also Raises Many Doubts:
The death of the Prime Minister of a country like India is
suspicious in some other country and his post-mortem was even not done, it is quite
shocking. When Lal Bahadur Shastri's body came to India, his wife
said that the colour of his body had turned blue and there were white
spots on the body. There were cut marks too on his body.
The death of Lal Bahadur Shastri, the former Prime Minister of
India, is one of the few deaths that have always been questioned.
Governments have changed but no one has a direct and accurate answer to the
reasons of the death of Lal Bahadur Shastri.
