Corona Virus In India

CORONA VIRUS IN INDIA

Coronavirus: When will Corona Virus weaken? India is reaching to that position

So far more than 27 lakh cases of Corona infection have been reported in India while more than 51 thousand people have died. However, this figure is much lower than countries like America and Brazil. The United States has the highest number of infection cases. So far, over 54 lakh, 78 thousand people have been infected while more than 01 lakh, 71 thousand people have died. At the same time, the case of infection has also crossed 33 lakhs in Brazil, while more than 1 lakh, 8 thousand deaths have been reported so far.

In such a situation, the question arises that when will the Corona Virus be weakened?

The report says that India is approaching that situation, but it will take some more time. Some time ago a report said that Corona Virus may be easier to eradicate if people develop herd immunity. Let us know how close India has come to this, but before that let’s learn what herd immunity is.

What is herd immunity?

If a disease spreads to a large part of the population of a country or the world and the immunity of a human being helps to prevent the spread of infection of those diseases, then those who are completely cured by fighting the disease, Immune properties are developed. This means that antibodies capable of fighting the virus in the body of such people are prepared. This is called herd immunity.

What benefits from herd immunity?

In fact, as people fight and recover from the disease, that is, they develop immunological properties; the risk of spreading the infection is reduced. This also protects those who have not been infected. According to Dr. Eduardo Sanchez, Chief Medical Officer of the American Heart Association, this process takes time.

How close is India to herd immunity?

According to scientists, 60 to 70% of the population should have antibodies for herd immunity. A sero survey is being conducted to find out herd immunity in India. According to Arokiaswamy Velumani, Managing Director of Thyrocare Laboratory, antibodies to the Corona Virus have been found in about 24% of the country's population at present. Although India is still far away from this situation, but the report says that at 45% sero positivity, the risk of infection starts to go down.

Which cities of India can have herd immunity first?

Since a large number of people have been infected and cured in cities like Delhi and Mumbai, experts believe that the first Herd Immunity may come to these cities. According to the first sero survey in Delhi, 23% of those tested were sero positive. The results of the second sero survey may come this week. Many areas in Mumbai have witnessed sero-positivity of around 50%.

The results of the second sero survey were declared by the Delhi government on Thursday, 19th August. According to this, 29.1% of people surveyed found antibodies against Corona. This is 6% more than the previous survey. The survey was conducted on 15 thousand people from different districts of Delhi between August 1 and August 7.

How long can antibodies last?

AIIMS Professor Naval Vikram says that so far there has been several research on how long the body has developed the ability to fight against the Corona. According to them, the Corona-fighting antibodies may remain in the body for 70 to 90 days. He cited another research that antibodies are halved in 73 days.
