The Secret of Success Lies in Believing in Oneself

5 Strategies To Build Unshakable Self-Confidence

THE SECRET OF SUCCESS LIES IN BELIEVING IN ONESELF

Mark Twain said, "All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure." But I want to modify this dictum according to the modern times and assert that all you need in this life is self- confidence and then success is sure.

An eight year old girl lived under the protective care of her parents. She lacked the self- confidence required for nourishing her hidden talents. One day, she was taken to a party. The little girl was an introvert and shy. There she met a lady who understood her psychology and believed in her hidden qualities. She became her well wisher and inspired her to believe in herself. She gave her the necessary motivation required for a new journey with success. And then that introvert girl broke all the world records and emerged as a successful athlete. She was able to reach her destination by believing in herself.

By reading the above story, one can easily describe that the secret of success lies in believing in oneself. It is the self-confidence which one should have to surpass others and accept the challenges in life. If we have confidence and belief in 'I am possible'. We can do wonders with this key and open the lock of success.

Now the question arises, what is self-confidence? 'Self-confidence' simply means 'having confidence and belief in ourselves. 'If we believe we can, we will.' Nothing is difficult, nothing is impossible. There are hundreds of examples before us. Until and unless we are nourished with self- confidence, we cannot touch the sky. We need to have faith in ourselves that we deserve all happiness and nothing is beyond our reach if we persistently make our efforts towards our goal.

There are innumerable examples before us of the people who despite facing all the odds started from scratch and reached the zenith. Prime Minister Narendra Modi belonged to a humble background and has reached to the highest post, i.e. of Prime Minister of India, Dhirubhai  Ambani was a business tycoon who founded Reliance Industries, Om Prakash Jindal, the Steel Man of Haryana, who established Steel factories, hospitals & schools and given job to thousands of people. Radhakishan Damani is the owner of the supermarket chain D-Mart, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala is an ace investor, trader and the owner of asset management firm Rare Enterprises, CP Krishnan Nair, the founder of India’s leading luxury hotel chain Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, Narayan Murthy co-founded Infosys with six other software engineers, etc. All such people rose up from their ordinary lot with their diligence and consistency. Their struggle to change their destiny presents the best example before us that the secret of success lies in believing ourselves.

But how can we acquire such self-confidence? The answer is very simple. Once we believe in our talent, our persistent hard work and remain optimistic then we can easily gain command over our mind and self-confidence. It is an undeniable truth that the secret of success lies in believing oneself. It is seen that people often fail to achieve their cherished goals because they do not believe in their dreams, their goals. It is a matter of common observation that a student who has confidence in his abilities performs better than the one who has good knowledge but not the confidence to share or express it. No obstacles can ever block the way to success if one has the confidence and will to succeed. People with great self-confidence accept the difficulties and challenges of life instead of meekly giving in. They struggle with great vigour and achieve success in the end. They leave an indelible mark on the pages of history.

Imagination and will power are the keys to develop self-confidence. Success formula requires trusting in ourselves. Self- confidence turns a fidgety student into an energetic and dynamic student. A student without a sound knowledge of any subject can also prove himself a master by learning facts and sharing them with confidence. You might have observed  in your life that two persons sharing the same information, where one is presenting it with good confidence and adding his personal experiences; whereas the other one presenting it with low-voice and low-confidence. There you will understand the expressions of the first person better.

In the famous quote ‘Hardwork is the key to success’ I wish to add ‘Self-confidence is the sure shot key to success.’ Life demands a different you at different circumstances and levels.

Here I wish to quote my own example: Whenever I have to face a job interview I become a bit nervous initially. But then I keep on talking to myself and boost up my own morale by reminding myself that I have my subject knowledge, my preparation of all my subject topics are regular and I am a staunch believer of God, so everything is going to be fine. The interviewee panel sitting inside will either select me or reject me. The questions they will ask from me, either I will be able to answer or I will not be. They will not take away my life. Either I will get the job or I will not. And if not, then I will get it somewhere else as per the designs of God. So I should believe in my capabilities and should answer all questions with confidence. Honestly telling you, it does work out for me. I really become confident every time and I fair well in interviews. My mantra of success is my belief in myself.
