SC Refuses To Direct CBSE/ CISCE To Provide Hybrid Option For Board Exams
The
Supreme Court on 18th November 2021 (Thursday) refused the
petition filed by parents and students that sought CBSE/CISCE to provide
option of Hybrid Mode for students of Class-10th & 12th
to appear for Term-1 Exams.
The
Supreme Court said that it would not be appropriate to
disturb the Exam process at this stage, when the Board Exams have
already started in Offline Mode for Classes-10th &
12th. The Court noted that the Term-1 CBSE Board Exams have already
started from 16th November 2021 while the Semester-1 Exams
for CISCE Board will commence from 22 November 2021.
The CBSE Representative
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the bench comprising Justices A
M Khanwilkar and C T Ravikumar that all the necessary precautions
have been taken to conduct Term-1 Board Exam in offline mode and the
examination centers have been increased from 6,500 to 15,000.
The bench of justices said
that they believe that CBSE & CISCE Board authorities will take all
the needful precautions and measures for the smooth conduct of Term-1 Board
Exams for Classes- 10th & 12th. The
authorities will not let anyone exposed to anything untoward in Term -1
Examination process.
The plea in the Supreme
Court was filed by six students who would be appearing in the Board
Exams seeking directions to the CBSE and CISCE to issue a
revised circular for conducting the upcoming Term-1 Board Exams in the Offline
as well as Online Mode (ie. Hybrid Mode) instead of only Offline Mode
due to Covid-19 Pandemic citing a reason that academic session could
not take place in real classroom situations and students are not well prepared
to write Board Exams.
