Ground Report on Schools Opening After 6 Months

Most private schools remained closed in 6 States
 

Despite the Government’s order to reopen the schools across the country from 21st September 2020 for classes- 9th to 12th most private schools remained closed in 6 States. Those schools which opened had very less attendance.

Entries to students were given after checking a signed permission letter from their parents. 

Schools re-opened after 6 months from 21 September, but most private schools remained closed. Only 10 students reached Cambridge International School in Indore. Other schools also remained the same. 

Several schools gave admission to children only after seeing the permission letter of parents. Most private schools do not have students, Management says, “Parents are not ready to send their children to school in this pandemic.” 

Schools have opened from September 21 in Unlock-4 

Some states have given permission to open schools, while many states have decided to close schools after parents’ protest.  Right now only students from 9th to 12th have been asked to come to school for guidance. After the opening of the school after about 6 months, the number of students was very less. 

In Jaipur, a school got signed a letter from the students’ family and gave entry to the children in the school. In the states where the schools opened, a team was formed to investigate the ground reality of the environment of the schools. 

Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Most private schools remained closed. There is a little confusion between private school management and parents. Carmel Convent, Sagar Public School, IPS, The Sanskar Valley and Jawaharlal Nehru Higher Secondary School did not open on 21 September. They say that after talking to the parents, it has been decided that presently only online education will be conducted. Schools will not be opened. Some government schools in the city opened and children were given admission with full precaution. However, the number of children remained quite low. 

Santosh Bose, the Administrative Officer of Carmel Convent, said that the school will not be opened in such circumstances. Parents are also not ready to send their wards to school yet. They are happy with online studies. If it is agreed to open the school in conversation with the parents then the information will be given by the school. Sunil Pathak, Vice Principal of Jawaharlal Nehru Higher Secondary School, Bhopal said that it is not clear how many children can be called in the clearing. At the moment we have decided not to open the school. The Management will also talk to DEO in this regard. Online classes are continuing and children's doubts are also being cleared.

Indore:

Government schools partially opened on Monday. From 9th to 12th children can come to school for guidance. Most private schools did not invite students. Prabha Dinodre, Principal of Cambridge International School, said, “After about 7 months, only 10 children arrived in the school. We are sending messages to parents. Maybe some more children will come to school from tomorrow. A separate time table is being set for the children who will be called to clear the doubts so that many students do not reach school at the same time.” 

Chandigarh:

Only government schools opened on Monday. Children were seated there by following social distancing. Private schools did not open. In this regard, the Organization of Private Schools says that they had conducted a survey among parents, in which 80 to 90% of the parents were not ready to send children to school, so schools were not opened. Private schools say that online study will continue. Feedback of parents will be taken from time to time. Schools will be opened only if a large number of parents agree to send their children to school. 

Rajasthan:

Jaipur: Many famous private schools opened on 21 September, but the number of students remained negligible. Anil Sharma, Principal of the American School and President of the School Education Family, said that on the first day only 65 percent of the students from 9th to 12th were called, but very few students came. On the first day, students did not reach most schools. Some schools arranged for the seating of children in the school's prairie ground. 

The students were given entry at Keshav Global Academy, Agra Road,  Jaipur, only after taking a no objection letter signed by the family. The students were asked to bring a register, pen, tiffin, water bottle and sanitizer. Also, the students were not allowed to remove masks in the school. Most school administrations say that the Guardians are not yet ready to send their wards to school. Therefore, there will be more emphasis on online studies. Children will be called to school only when there is a great need. Most private schools in Jodhpur also remained closed. 

Punjab:

In a partial amendment to the unlock guidelines issued by the Union Home Ministry, the Punjab government has given permission to students from 9th to 12th grade to go to school with the written permission of their parents. With this, the state government also said that DC can take the decision to open schools in the districts at their level. In Punjab too, private school students did not reach schools in Ludhiana and Jalandhar. The school management says that the students should be called for the clearance of their doubts or their doubts should be cleared online, it will be decided by talking to the parents. Most of the government school students, who had some work related to Board Exams, came to school. 

Haryana

Government schools have opened in almost all 22 districts of Haryana including Panipat, Jind, Sonipat, Hisar, Bhiwani, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Charkhi Dadri, Rohtak etc. At present, each student's doubt will be cleared only in schools from 9 am to 12 noon. A few students were seen in government schools. However, students did not reach most private schools. 

Bihar:

Schools did not open on Monday in Bihar. From classes 9th to 12th, the Department of Education will meet on 22nd September to decide how long the students will come to school for clearing their doubts and practical classes. Patna's DM Kumar Ravi said that activity classes will be allowed in schools only after the guidelines of the Education Department. Baldwin Academy Principal Rajeev Ranjan told that the response of children from 9th to 12th was sought. In 11th-12th classes out of 400 parents, only 8 parents agreed to send their wards to school. 53 parents out of 400 in the 9th &10th classes concurred. 

Schools will not open in many states including Gujarat, Jharkhand and U.P.

Several states including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand have decided to keep the schools closed for the time being.
