GOOD
GOVERNANCE DAY (25th DECEMBER)
Commemorating the Birthday of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee
“Global interdependence today means that economic disasters in
developing countries could create a backlash on developed countries.”
Good Governance Day is observed annually on December 25th in India, to commemorate the
birthday of former Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee,
the day was established in 2014 to honour Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee
by fostering awareness among the people about the government’s commitment for
providing a transparent and accountable administration in the country.
Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an Indian politician, extraordinary orator, and writer
who served as the tenth Prime Minister of India. He was the first
non-Congress Prime Minister to serve a 5-year term. He was a parliamentarian
for four decades and was elected to the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) two
times and the Lok Sabha (Lower House) ten times. He was honoured with
the ‘Bharat Ratna Award’, the highest civilian honour of India. His
birthday is celebrated as the ‘Good Governance Day.'
The Wisdom School organized a school assembly for
the Day. The assembly provided a deep insight about the significance of the Day
and highlighted the great work and achievements of the legendary political
leader, a wonderful poet and Bharat Ratna, Shri Atal Bihari
Vajpayee. The insightful activities also covered the poems written by him.
Each of his inspirational poems give strong life lessons to have a never say
die attitude, to be truthful, to be strong, resilient
and be optimistic in life. He said, “No people or situations can
defeat an individual, not even the fear of death unless a person gives up from
within and feels defeated.”
The former Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari
Vajpayee lived a complete life in terms of struggles, victories, pains,
joys and sorrows with an attitude to keep moving on and never give up. Through
the assembly, the fine characteristics and administration skills of Shri Atal
Bihari Vajpayee were conveyed to the students by showing a power point
presentation based on the life & poems of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A
senior student presented a fiery speech of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and
another student recited the poem ‘Main Geet Naya Gaata Hoon’ left the whole
auditorium mesmerized.
As 25th December
is a holiday for Christmas, this assembly was conducted online on 24th
December.
