WORLD GRATITUDE DAY (21 September)
“Great
things happen to those who don't stop believing, trying, learning, and being
grateful.”
World Gratitude Day is
celebrated on 21st September to reflect on the amazing things we are
blessed with and realize how incredibly fortunate we are.
What is the meaning of Gratitude?
The meaning of gratitude is the
feeling of being grateful or of wanting to give your thanks to somebody.
Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives, whether
tangible or intangible. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish
good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong
relationships. People feel and express gratitude in multiple ways.
“Gratitude enriches human life. It
elevates, energizes, inspires and transforms. People are moved, opened and
humbled through expressions of gratitude.”
The students of Cambridge Public School of class-5th
planned a class assembly on World Gratitude Day on 21st
September. The aim of the assembly was to inculcate the attitude of gratefulness
in students to help them eventually develop a positive outlook towards life rather
than focussing on shortcomings and flaws of others. The students of class-5th
presented the ‘Thought for the Day’, News, Word of the Day,
a short motivational story & a poem based on gratitude. The
Principal of the school reiterated the value of gratitude.
Making a conscious decision to focus on gratitude
in daily life not only makes the person happy but also spreads happiness to
others. Feeling and expressing gratitude gives a great sense of
contentment and joy even in the midst of challenging situations. It helps to
reduce stress and frustration and makes a person strong and resilient.
Nothing is more rewarding than appreciation, it is sometimes really important to let the other person know that we truly care and appreciate. This helps to build healthy relationships. The drama ‘The Art of Saying Thank You’ highlighted the positive impact of expressing gratitude in real life scenarios.
“Be
grateful for what you already have while you pursue your goals.
If you aren’t grateful for what you already have,
what makes you think you would be happy with more.”
