Report on World Earth Day

School Report on International Earth Day

“The Earth will not continue to offer its harvest, except with faithful stewardship. We cannot say we love the land and then take steps to destroy it for use by future generations.”
—John Paul II

Introduction:

Earth Day is an annual event that is observed on April 22nd to promote environmental awareness and protection. Earth Day serves as an important reminder that we all have a responsibility to take care of our planet. By making small changes in our daily lives and participating in community events and projects, we can all work together to make a positive impact on the environment.

Theme of Earth Day 2024:

This year, the Earth Day celebration is centred around the theme 'Planet vs. Plastics'. This theme is inspired by the historic UN treaty on plastics, which is expected to be approved by the end of 2024. Also, it aims to raise awareness of the harms of plastic pollution for human and planetary health.

Theme of Earth Day 2023:

The theme for Earth Day 2023 was "Restore Our Earth", which focused on restoring ecosystems and repairing the damage that has been done to the planet.

School Report on World Earth Day:

A special assembly was organized on 22nd April, 2023 in the school on the occasion of Earth Day. The students presented the Word of the Day, Thought for the Day, delivered Speeches in Hindi and English, presented a song and a dance to show the gratitude towards Mother Earth. They took a pledge to protect the earth. April 22 is designated as World Earth Day to support the planet's well-being and promote public awareness about the ill health of our planet Earth. To highlight the same issue, a Special Assembly was organized by the students of class VIII in the school premises. By playing different roles the students tried to explain the condition of our natural resources. They enacted a Short Play also to teach everyone how to prevent and repair the harm that is already done to our earth and other natural resources. The efforts of the students were appreciated by everyone.

The Vice Principal of the school delivered a speech and encouraged the students to have the spirit to protect our planet Earth.

As an extended activity on the occasion of Earth Day, the members of Eco Club from Junior & Senior wing took part in a plantation drive. They planted saplings in beautifully painted pots and displayed them in the school greens.

“Invest in our planet right now; every little thing matters.

Planting the seeds of hope for a greener tomorrow!

On the occasion of World Earth Day, the students of APS came together with a shared vision - to invest in our future. Taking a step towards a better future they participated in a plantation drive. The students also performed a phenomenal dance routine around the theme 'Invest in our Planet' and were later given 1000 saplings to take home and plant in their own communities. The students received a sapling, along with the instructions on how to plant and care for it. Each sapling represented a promise of a better future, a symbol of hope that one day their efforts would pay off, and the world would be a cleaner, greener place. I hope that this initiative would not only beautify the surroundings but also encourage their families and neighbours to participate in the effort to create a healthier and more sustainable world.

Let's make this world a better place, one tree at a time
😊

In order to instill in our growing buds a sense of responsibility towards our mother Earth, beautiful activities and competitions were conducted for pre- primary, primary as well as senior students. The students showcased their artistic talents and the winners of the Poster and Slogan making Competition were awarded with beautiful plants. They also pledged to take care of mother nature and urged people to invest in saving natural resources for future generations. On this special day, the school administration as well as the staff of APS also planted some saplings. It was a day full of enjoyment and enrollment.

"पृथ्वी दिवस के अवसर पर हम धरा की धानी चुनर की गरिमा बनाए रखने के लिए सभी जीवों को पृथ्वी पर उनके हिस्से का स्थान अधिकार देने का संकल्प लेते हैं।"

Earth Day Celebration in School:

“We are running the most dangerous experiment in history right now, which is to see how much carbon dioxide the atmosphere can handle before there is an environmental catastrophe."
- Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla & SpaceX

At APS, we celebrated Earth Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The day started with prayer, followed by thoughtful speech, a poem, Street Play (Nukkad Natak) and pledge to protect the environment. The pledge that we took on Earth Day was a solemn promise to do our best to protect the planet. We pledged to reduce our carbon footprint, conserve water, recycle and reuse, and to be more mindful of our impact on the environment.

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference and you have to decide what kind of a difference you want to make.”
—Jane Goodall

The day inspires us to act towards the protection of the environment and focuses on the need for conservation. Keeping up with this thought, an array of activities were organized for classes from Nursery to X. With an aim to sensitize our young minds regarding the conservation of natural resources, a thoughtful discussion on the significance of the Day was held in the classes. The students actively exchanged the ideas of doing their bit like planting trees, throwing trash into the bin, saving water and energy and the ways to reuse things to make the planet even more beautiful. Our Tiny Tots enjoyed the activity ‘Growing Up Together’ by adopting a plant, watering it, placing it in sunny area and providing fertilizers. The students loved making the earth. The celebration instilled a feeling of gratitude towards our mother nature as our young minds thanked the Mother Earth for all its bountiful gifts in the form of birds, animals, flowers, rivers, mountains etc.

Every year on 22nd April World Earth Day is observed to raise awareness about the importance of climate change and different ways in which we can protect our planet.
