Report on Gandhi & Shastri Jayanti

'The future depends on what we do in the present.'

Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti is celebrated in India every year on 2nd October to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, the greatest motivator and independence campaigners of their times. Hailed as the 'Father of the Nation', Gandhiji and second Prime Minister of India Shastriji's principles have inspired generations and movements not just in India but across the world. To follow the principles of Gandhiji require a lot of commitment and dedication.

Gandhi & Shastri Jayanti, a national holiday in India, is celebrated on 2nd October, in the honour of the birthday of India’s Father of the Nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi & Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The assembly was based on highlighting the values of Mahatma Gandhi. The students learnt about many inspirational life events of Mahatma Gandhi through the assembly. The drama in the assembly ‘I want to be like Bapu’ was put up by the performers, each of them wanted to take up a specific profession when they grow up after being inspired by Gandhiji such as a doctor, lawyer, teacher, social worker, journalist etc. For instance, one performer wanted to become a teacher and follow Gandhi’s philosophies of education i.e. to make a student multi-skilled and provide real life experience, whereas other wanted to be a lawyer and follow Gandhiji’s principles of truth and justice in law.

His extraordinary qualities such as serving the society, selflessness, charity, honesty, truthfulness, non-violence, patriotism, compassion for animals, hard work etc are depicted in the assembly and finally, apart from choosing any work profession, inculcating Gandhiji’s values in lives will truly help students becoming great human beings.

It is an interesting, fun loving and creative way of paying homage to the legendary character and the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The management, Principal, staff and students paid homage and tribute to the national legends by organizing a rally and raised slogans 'Hum Sabka Yahi Naara Hai, Bharat Ko Swachh Banana Hai' this morning. The students, teachers and support staff of the school went round sector-16 & 17 and made the residents motivated in their own gentle way by cleaning the area.

'Discipline and united actions are the real source of strength for the nation.' A message of 'Clean India & Green India' was echoing in the air. The great enthusiasm of the students was supported by the people who witnessed the campaign.
