Tips to Store Dry Clean Clothes

(Dry clean clothes will not be spoiled if stored in this way in the cupboard)

If you put your expensive clothes in a similar cupboard after getting dry cleaning, then it may be your fault. This will spoil clothes.

We work very hard for the safety of our expensive clothes. We do not want to stain them, so we take care of them while wearing them, make them dry clean and wear them. But when it comes to store them, we often make mistakes. We cannot store dry clean clothes like normal clothes and if they are to be kept in the cupboard too, a lot of precautions are required.

If you want to store your expensive clothes in a wardrobe or a divan, then some basic tips have to be followed. These are the tips with which your clothes will not be spoiled and they will not need to be dry cleaned again and again.

So let's know the tips to store dry clean clothes:

1. Do not store in plastic:

The biggest mistake that is made after dry cleaning is that we often leave the cloth in the same plastic bag that the plastic bag came in from the dry clean shop. It needs to be kept in mind that the bag is used only to protect the clothes from getting stained and should not be used to store them permanently. Sometimes we leave the clothes in the same plastic for a long time in same situation that the colour of the clothes and their texture makes a difference.

Several times this plastic bag causes the clothes to stink. The plastic starts melting after a while and can mix with the fabric. The most impact is on the ‘zari’ and ‘zardozi’ lends etc. where the black colour embroidery starts to be black. It also has an impact on the fabric of such dresses etc. If you have to store it too, take a bag where one side is plastic and the other side is any cloth such as jute or cotton etc. (like the bag that comes with the purchase of a gents suit).

2. Put butter paper between clothes:

You may have noticed that while folding many expensive clothes, the shops use butter paper or any similar paper. This is so that the crease of the fabric does not deteriorate and at the same time many layers do not stick together. This can prove to be very essential for heavy embroidered dresses etc. Keep in mind that many people here use such paper on which something is written or they put the newspaper in the middle of clothes. This will be a big mistake because doing so will put ink marks on your clothes.

3. Use the hanger carefully:

Do not cut the hanger strap of clothes with dry clean, but hang them on the wooden hanger as well. Avoid using plastic hangers here and hang them with a clothes hanger strap on the wooden hanger. By doing this, the shape of the clothes will not deteriorate. Many times people cut the hanger strap and then hang their clothes like without it. In such a situation, the shape of the clothes deteriorates and their size gets spread especially on the shoulders etc. If you want to use a hanger, hang it with a cloth hanger strap.

4. Never store with damp clothes:

Especially during winter and rainy season, we also keep damp clothes in the cupboard and if dry clean clothes are stored with such clothes, then their colour, texture and their embroidery will all be spoiled. Such delicate clothes always spoil due to water. For this reason, if you keep them away from normal clothes, then it will be better.

5. Do not keep it closed for too long:

Often the wedding dress, sherwani etc. are kept closed for longer and it is opened again only after 4-5 years, then do not do this. Once a year, take out those clothes and get them dry cleaned. In such a situation, there is no risk of catching fungus etc. on clothes. Keep in mind that by giving a dry clean to your clothes, your clothes will last for a long time and will not deteriorate.

So take good care of your clothes.
